Bran
He watches Sir Rodrick as he tries to train the stable boys as knights and warriors. Bran talks with Maester Luwin, and tells him about his dream of seeing his father in the crypts the night before. The maester doesn’t believe him. Hodor won’t take Bran into the crypts, so the maester calls for Osha to carry Bran. She sees no issue and complies. Summer tags along at Bran’s command.
However, Summer snarls and won’t move once he reaches the bottom of the steps. Bran recounts the stories of the dead to Osha per the Maester’s request. When they reach the place for Ned, the maester shows Bran that it’s empty… but then ShaggyDog (Rickon’s direwolf) springs out and bites the maester’s arm. Bran calls Summer, who fights ShaggyDog. Rickon appears at the base of Ned’s empty tomb and tells Bran how he saw his father there in his dream last night.
Rickon wants to stay alone in the crypt, he says he likes it there and he’s waiting for his father to come home.. (he’s only 4!!).
Bran invites him to come up above ground and wait together. Bran says they’ll wait in the Maester’s tower, and Rickon agrees.
They make it to the tower and Osha helps treat the Maester’s wounds. The Maester says he admits its odd that the boys had the same dream, but its “only natural” and that dreams are only dreams.
Osha says’ “Some are, some aren’t” and mentions the children of the forest. Bran recounts Old Nan’s stories of the children. The maester presents a bottle of black arrowheads, named Dragonglass bu Osha, and “obsidian” by the maester. He gives a few to the boys to keep. Bran asks for more information about the children. The maester obliges. They carried weapons made of Obsidian, armor of leaves and tree bark to blend in. They were small people, the size of children at full size. They lived in the woods in caves and trees. They worshiped the Old gods. They carved faces into the weirwoods to keep watch on the woods. The First Men were frightened by the tree faces, so they burned them. This started a war. Once many of both sides were killed, their leaders called a truce and formed a pact of peace. Osha says the children went North of the Wall, which is where they live now.
The maester explains that the Andals came across the seas and disrupted the pact, killing all of the children, so they thought, and burning all of the trees except the one in Winterfell. The king of winterfell did not allow the takeover and kept their independence and Old God faith.
Summer and Shaggydog begin to howl as a raven arrives with news of Ned’s death.

Sansa
Depressed in grief, living and dreaming in nightmares, she contemplated a jump from her window, but is frightened and cries in her bed instead. Joffrey enters with the Hound and two white cloaks, and demands that she dress to accompany him at court. She says no and joff makes the hound get her up. She begs to be left alone and be sent home. Joffrey says Cersei still demands that they be married. Sansa shouts that she doesn’t want to marry him anymore as he chopped off her father’ head. She tells him that she hates him, and he has one of his knights strike her. The Hound advises her to simply obey and save herself some pain. She dresses and gets ready for court, at which, Joffrey is no less cruel or terrible. He passes awful rulings and responses to the problems of his people. Sansa daydreams about hurting those that have hurt her and her father. At the end, Joffrey waits for her at the end of the stairs. He takes her on a stroll and forces her to look at her father’s head. She looks, but is able to blind herself from seeing. She looks blankly. Joffrey is disappointed in her reaction and says that he’s going to kill robb and spike his head, too. Sansa says “maybe Robb will bring me your head.” and joffrey has Ser Meryn hit her twice, slitting her lip. The Hound gently helps her afterward, but only for a moment, and she thanks him politely.

Catelyn
She and Robb and the remains of their army and captives make it to Riverrun.
She is able to visit her father on his deathbed. She asks if Robb can see him, as well as Brynden (his brother). He happily accepts the idea of a visit from Robb, but doesn’t want Brynden around yet due to the grudge he holds against him for insubordination.
She goes and finds Robb with some of his men praying in the Godswood. When he stands, he tells her that they must hold a council, as Renly Baratheon had claimed the crown.
They discuss strategy and plans, and Cat proposes peace. The men say that the only way there will be peace is to have Robb as the King. They chant “the King in the North!” and lay their swords and weapons before him.

Tyrion
Jaime has been captured and Tyrion’s uncle is angry. They discuss how it happened and what they plan to do next. Lord Tywin commands everyone out, except Tyrion and Kevan (tywin’s brother). They discuss the matter of Renly Baratheon’s wedding to Margaery Tyrell at Highgarden, claiming the throne and gathering troops. They discuss more war plans and takeovers… Lord Tywin tells Tyrion that he is to return to King’s Landing and rule in his stead as the Hand of the King. He forbids Tyrion to take Shae with him, but Tyrion doesn’t care.

Dany
She has a nightmare of her brother abusing her, followed by Drogo making love to her, followed by her back ripping open and growing wings, with which she flew high over everything. She wakes and is in intense pain and can’t think clearly. The Maegi has her drink something and she falls back asleep. As she wakes again, she asks for a drink and is brought water and wine, both of which she drinks. She realizes that she has been sick for a long time, but does not know for how long. She falls asleep for a third time. When she wakes, She is holding the pale colored white dragon egg. As she touches it, she feels it respond. She calls her handmaids and commands that they bring water, ser Jorah, Drogo, and her son. The baby did not live. Drogo is basically braindead.
Dany observes her other eggs. Jorah asks if she’s okay, they don’t feel warm to him. She sits and asks hiim how her son died. Rhaego never lived. He was born a monster with stubby wings, worms for insides, and rotted flesh. Dany knew it was because Jorah took her into the tent. Jorah was affected by the intrusion of the tent as well. Dany demands to see Drogo. She learns that the khalasar had abandoned them, naming new Khals and forming new khalasars. She sits with Drogo. The Maegi knew that Drogo would never live his life again. She cast the spells, knowing, because she wanted revenge for the burning of her temple. Dany spends the rest of the evening alone with Drogo. She washes him and tries to make love to him.. She realizes that he is lost and suffocates him with a pillow.

Jon
Jon leaves the wall. He thinks about his plan to avenge his father by Rob’s side. He knows that he will now be looked at as a traitor and deserter of the wall and is coming to terms with who he really is. He wonders if Rob will treat him as a deserter or extend him Mercy because they are brothers. John picks up speed and ghost stays behind to hunt. When Don finally slows down he calls for ghost but receives no response. He sits to under the trees to have some food while he waits for ghost to catch up. All of a sudden all of John’s friends from the wall show up on their horses looking for him in the dark. Ghost appears which startles John’s horse and gives away his location. Friends around him and encourage him to come back, giving him the ultimatum of killing them or coming home with them. He goes home to the Wall..

It’s already morning so he resumes his duties as squire of the commander. Mormont tells him how he expected Jon to run and had men watching him. He explained how there would be no place for Jon as he is a man of the Black now and would be killed no matter who he ended up with. Mormont wants Jon and Ghost around because Ghost can sense things and thus save lives. Mormont plans to go beyond the wall to find Benjen, dead or alive, and he expects Jon and Ghost to go with him.
Dany
The men prepare the place for Drogo’s funeral, a burning of his body and a horse to carry him into the night lands. The old lady healer tells Dany she doesn’t know what she’s doing, and Dany has her whipped. The funeral preparations continue.
Jorah pleads with Dany not to follow through with her unspoken plans. She tells him she must and that he does not understand.
He asks her to promise not to climb onto Drogo’s burning pyre. She promises.
Then she names her Queensguard, 3 of drogos men, and Jorah as her First Knight of her Queensguard.
She goes and bathes, then bathing and preparing Drogo for his pyre. They carry him out onto the pyre covered in silks and cushions for him. She commands her handmaids to bring her dragon eggs to the pyre. She lays them around Drogo.
She has Jorah and Rahkaro tie the Maegi to the pyre as well.
They waited for the first star of the evening to light the fire. Once the star was spotted, a red comet, they lit the fire and Dany was entranced by it. She stepped closer while the others stepped back. She walked into the flames as they engulfed her, giving her visions of her Khal and his whip cracking the dragon eggs open.
When the fire settled, three baby dragons surrounded her and she was unharmed, except the fire burned off all of her hair… The people bowed to her and she knew they were hers forever.
