Ned
Ned wakes up 6 days after breaking his leg. He dreamed of the battle at the Trident and a promise made to his sister Lyanna that he would take care of her baby.
The King and Cersei visit him in his quarters. Robert is slightly drunk and offers Ned some wine. Cersei spits a threat and the King quiets her. Jaime has ridden off to Casterly Rock to join his father. The King demands immediate repair to the situation between the Starks and the Lannisters. Ned asks how he’s meant to forgive the slaughter of Jory and his men. Littlefinger had told the King that Ned was in a brothel… Ned confesses in front of the King and Queen that he went there to find Robert’s baseborn daughter. They don’t care much… The King hits the Queen, the rest is true to the show.
Bran
Robb and Bran go riding in the woods. Their direwolves go with them. Robb tells Bran about Jory being killed and their father’s broken leg. Bran can’t remember details, but he feels like there’s something about the Lannisters in his memory. Six wildlings attack the Stark boys and the direwolves kill most of the wildlings. Theon saves Bran. Osha is taken to Winterfell to tell them what she knows.
Catelyn
This is a chapter named Catelyn .. but it’s really Tyrion’s story.
This is the fight scene between Bronn and Lord Vardis (who apparently is an old man). The fight takes place in a garden, rather than over the moon door.
Bronn won by crushing Ser Vardis with a statue before skewering him in the ribs. Lysa sends Tyrion and Bronn on their way with supplies and food, but they must take the high road (The same place they were last attacked by free men).
Ned
Ned sits on the iron throne and hears the complaints of the people. The Mountain has slaughtered and raped in the name of Tywin Lannister. Ned sentences him to death and strips him of his titles and honor. He sends a team to have the Mountain killed.
Sansa
She chats with Jeyne about her father’s decision to send Lord Beric instead of Loras Tyrell.. Sansa still thinks of Joffrey as a gallant knight and the King as a drunken fool.
Yoren takes men from the dungeons as recruits for the Wall.
Sansa and Arya fight at breakfast and are sent to their rooms. Sansa cries herself to sleep and dreams of Lady.
Ned requests the girls’ presence – Sansa blurts out the blame on Arya and Arya apologizes once she realizes Ned’s impatience. Ned tells them that he is sending them home to Winterfell. They beg him not to do so. Sansa is hateful towards Arya no matter what Arya says or does, she is cold and cruel, pouting about losing her King’s Landing lifestyle.
Dany
Dany puts her egg in the fire and picks it up, not getting burnt. Her handmaid panics and takes the egg from her, burning her own hands.
Dany eats the horse’s heart as all the people and Viserys watch – true to the book. Viserys feels threatened by Dany’s unborn son. He tries to steal her dragon eggs… Jorah stops him and makes him leave them behind. Viserys makes Jorah aware of his knowledge of Jorah’s longings for Dany.
Viserys enters at the feast, drunken and angry. He is given his Golden Crown…
